The morning was a somewhat cloudy one and the air was very hot and sticky feeling. I was sitting on a chair gazing out the window in a daze. Mina had left sometime in the night, back to her tower I was guessing. I didn't mind, it was her right after all... Dustin was lying on the kitchen table snoring loudly with a little trail of drool drizzling from the corner of his mouth.
Out the window, I could see that our hut was settled on top of a tall cliff over looking the sea. The weak morning sunlight that had managed to get through the clouds sparkled on the rippling water. Across it, I could see the misty silhouette of Mt. Silver: That was where we were going.
"Can't believe we did it." Dustin said, making me jump. I twisted around and smiled at him, and he put his hand on my shoulder shyly.
"We should get going." I sighed, "The cops are bound to catch up sooner or later..."
"Right..." Dustin said, slowly pacing over to the corner. He picked up my bag and threw it to me, and slung his own over his shoulder.
We gave each other reassuring looks and went to the door. Just as we were about to open it, someone knocked. I froze.
Dustin slowly put his eye to the peephole and looked back at me with an expression of horror stuck on his face. "Cops." He whispered.
I inhaled sharply and took a step away, Dustin however, opened the door.
What was he doing?! But before I could say anything, the cop was already looking inquisitively into the house. "Sorry to bother you, but..." It was then he recognised us and tensed up in shock.
Dustin hauled off and punched him in the nose before the officer could do anything, grabbed my arm, and ran outside. Much to our dismay, about eighteen police officers surrounded us almost immediately. They swarmed in on Dustin and were trying to force him into cuffs.
Before the cops could get to me, I threw out all my pokeballs. Claudia swooped down and picked up Dustin and the others began to attack fiercely. Dustin was set down safely next to me with handcuffs dangling from one of his wrists; after dropping him off, Claudia went off to aid Benny, AJ, Barbie, Pegasus, and Junior in the fray.
After about fifteen minutes of relentless battle, the police were either passed out on the ground or taking cover in their squad cars. "Come on!" I shouted to my pokmon and DUstin, running for the woods.
We had barely made it into the first bushes when trucks roared out the forest, blocking our path, and even more police were coming at us from the back. Dustin threw out all of his pokeballs too so we were surrounded by a shell of pokemon. The police growlithe had barged in front of all of the cops and were baring their teeth at our pokemon savagely.
"Give up peacefully or we will have them attack!" A megaphone blared from someplace.
"Give up peacefully or we'll have THEM attack!!!" Dustin shouted, motioning to our faithful pokemon.
The cops rustled with mutters and soft chuckles. "Second chance." The megaphone squawked again. "I advise you to stop."
"I advise YOU to stop!!!" Dustin yelled.
I gaped at him incredulously. Was he TRYING to get us killed???
"You leave us no choice then."
And with that, the growlithe leapt at us all at once. Before they could even get an attack in though, DUstin's electrode had rolled forward and exploded filling the area with choking white smoke.
"This way!!!" Dustin shouted at me, running back towards the hut. My pokemon and I followed in terror.
"Pick!" He called, stopping at the edge of the cliff.
The pidgeot flew forward to Dustin, and he was about to get on when a shot rang out.
The sound echoed strangely as Dustin crouched in anguish at his pidgeot's side. For a moment I feared for the worst, then I saw the tranquilizer dart embedded in Pick's chest and heaved a sigh of relief. No one was dead.
Dustin tore the dart from Pick and recalled her quickly. His pokemon were locked in battle with cops and growlithe that had stumbled their way out of the smoky forest.
My pokemon were standing around me protectively. When cops tried to approach me, they would attack all at once and the officer would run away.
The cliffside was in a frenzy as it was with the cops fleeing left and right, but then five large trucks pulled up and more police came flooding out.
Last to drive up was three or four TV station trucks. Great, just what we needed.
The five squads of about 15 police each that had come out the trucks were splitting into two groups: one for Dustin, and one for me.
I ordered Barbie and Junior to take care of the 19 on my left and told Claudia and Benny to go after the 18 on my right. AJ was guarding Pegasus and me.
Unfortunately, Dustin had got the larger share of the fresh group of cops and he wasn't having a good time over to my right I could see. Vice was the main fighter, but the growlithe kept bogging him down. The poor scizor was fighting to even stand up any longer. Dustin's other pokemon were nearly faring the same.
I looked back to my pokemon quickly, Junior and Barbie of the left were trying to dodge numerous night stick beatings, but doing pretty well. Benny and Claudia on the right were doing extremely well, they both kept sending out their attacks in waves that hit every cop around them. And straight in front of me, AJ would shoot poison pins at anyone who would come too close. We were safe.
I stared at Dustin's fight. His pokemon were still there, just very weary and sluggish. The cops were pushing Dustin closer and closer to the edge of the cliff so he would have no choice but to give up.
A sudden squeal made me turn back to my fight. Junior had been shot in the shoulder with two tranquilizer darts. I pulled out my pokeball to recall him, but police had already thrown a net over him and were dragging his limp body to a truck. "Junior!" I shouted worriedly.
Barbie was alone with her group of cops now and was starting to get tired out. Someone was shocking her with a taser now. I cringed.
'You gotta help her AJ!' I said.
'But what about you and Pegasus?!' AJ protested.
'Pegasus and I will look after each other, Barbie really needs you right now!'I said urgently. Aj nodded and ran off without another word.
Benny and Claudia were being attacked more heavily now. More cops than they could handle had come running in to help their comrades since the volbeat and xatu were doing more damage to the force than anything else on the whole cliff.
I was about to shout some advice to them when I heard a blasting sound. Pegasus had fired an ice beam at an approaching cop. The police seemed to finally realize that the porygon2 they were after was sitting right in front of me. My pokemon seemed to notice and abandoned their fights to come help.
The place was turning into a madhouse. Various attacks would go blasting through the air, cops would run by screaming, Vice would whiz by like a flash and the sound of shots being fired filled the scene.
My pokemon had fanned out, attacking in every direction. They were even jumping in squad car windows to get at cops hiding inside.
I checked on Dustin again, only his bayleef, golem, and the horribly tired, but determined Vice were left.
'Azu!!' I heard Barbie scream. I turned back to my fight fearfully only to see a bunch of cops ganging up on Barbie with tasers.
Barbie let loose a devastating hydro pump to get them away from her, but different police just took the fallen officers' places. I could only watch in horror as they caged Barbie and loaded her into the truck with Junior. My lips mouthed her named hopelessly.
Claudia, Benny, and AJ jumped on any cop with a taser to avenge Barbie. At my feet, Pegasus was having to attack more frequently to keep the cops away. I gulped worriedly.
I heard a loud boom all of the sudden and looked up. A net gun had just been set off and Benny was trapped in a net. Anytime someone would get near him to load him up though, he would use thunderbolt and hold them off. Claudia and AJ attacked the net gun police angrilly.
Roar! Pegasus had just breathed a torrent of flames on a bunch of police.
BOOM! Another net gun had gone off. Claudia was captured. She was holding police off with psychic waves.
AJ fired hyper beam at a police truck nearby, causing it to explode and blast away dozens of police officers, then he ran back to protect Pegasus and me.
"Call off your pokemon and get on the ground peacefully!" A megaphone blared.
I glanced over at Dustin. He was on the very edge of the cliff and all his pokemon were gone except for his bayleef Lucy. She kept picking up cops with her vines and tossing them into the woods while simeutaneously releasing razor leaves.
Pegasus had taken off and was zooming faster than the eye could detect around the small clearing. He knocked police pursuing Dustin into unconsciousness and flew back around to knock down the ones going after me. It didn't stop there, he kept blasting flamethrowers and icebeams, and any other sort of TM he had at police. He was burning with determination to get me out of this safely.
There was a loud explosion, AJ had blown up another truck with hyper beam.
"Dustin Belle! Lay down your arms!" A megaphone blared again. I jerked my head over to check on Dustin. He was on the edge of the cliff, but Lucy was about ready to go.
Then, Dustin did something I didn't expect. He smiled. He smiled and recalled his bayleef! Then he put his hands up.
I stared in shock. The cops were advancing on him, but then, Dustin closed his eyes. He leaned backward and began to fall over the edge of the cliff.
"DUSTIN!!!" I screamed at the top of my lungs. "DUSTIN!" I ran to where he had fallen and gazed down into the crashing ocean below. "Dustin."
Before I knew it, cops were holding me down and wrenching my arms behind my back to arrest me.
'AZU!!!' AJ roared, galloping forward. He was headbutting everything in his path wildly to get to me. I twisted in the officers' arms. AJ was just inches away from stabbing the cops holding me back when a dog catcher's noose slipped around his neck and slammed him into the ground.
'AJ!!!!!' I screamed with tears pouring from my eyes. Pegasus jetted over my head suddenly, cops pursuing him rapidly. I struggled and stuggled with all my strength to get away and run to him. The cop with the noose was dragging AJ backward toward a truck. AJ's feet were clawing at the ground, trying to take him back to me.
"Give me my pokemon back!" I writhed and twisted my shoulders in the officer's arms and finally tore free. I ran to AJ and clung to him with all my will, all my might, everything I had left in me.
'I'll never let them take you.' I whispered in his ear, the tears streaming down my face.
Cops were grabbing my back and trying to pull me away, but I hugged onto AJ tighter. "NEVER!" I screamed.
The man holding AJ in the noose was pulling back, trying to tear him away. AJ roared louder than I ever heard him before 'AZU!!'
Then we were torn apart. The cops were wrestling me into handcuffs and AJ was being dragged into the truck.
"AJ!!" I sobbed.
'AZU!!!' AJ roared, choking.
"I'll find you I swear!!!!" I yelled.
'AZU!!!!' AJ coughed, still struggling though he was only inches from the back door of the truck. 'I love you!' He choked. 'I love you!'
I hung my head as AJ was forced inside and the doors of the truck were closed. Pegsasus was zipping around the area still with a whole pack of growlithe chasing after him. Claudia and Benny in their nets had finally been tranquilized and shoved into a truck. I was being pushed forcefully to a truck of my own now.
Suddenly I wrenched my self backward. "That's right Pegasus!!" I screamed. "Never let them get you!!! Never let them get you!!"
Pegasus probably didn't even hear me, he was busy freezing police with his ice beam.
"Come along now." A gruff cop's voice said to me, pulling.
TV cameras rushed around to catch me being locked into the truck. The last thing I remember seeing before we left the clearing was Pegasus spiraling straight up into the air wearily before passing out cold and drifting back to earth into the mass of barking growlithe.
I cried. And cried. And Cried.
Just before we reached the prison, I remember struggling my cuffed arms around to reach into my front left pocket. I rustled around for a moment and pulled out my gym badges. Four. That's it, that's all I could get. I chuckled strangely.
That old song had just come into my head... 'I fought the law, and the law won.' I mumbled.

"That's everything?"
"That's everything." I said, wiping a tear from my eye. Remembering all that was tough on me. I sqeazed my eyes shut tight to keep my self from crying harder.
"Miss, are you all right?" The reporter asked me with a sort of smirk on his face.
"Yeah." I grumbled. "Yeah..."
"Well, it was nice meeting you." The reporter said, putting his hat on. "I'll be going now."
He chuckled as the guard opened the door for him and he walked out. Just before the door closed, the reporter stuck his head back in, grinning widely. "enjoy your stay." He sneered.
The door shut and I could hear him laughing uncontrollably outside. I flung myself against the door. "You promised me!!!" I yelled in sorrow as I slammed my fists on the cold metal.
"Too bad." I heard the reporter sing outside.
I slid down the door and began to cry softly. The world didn't have too much sympathy for a girl who had bitten off more than she could chew.
The day I had to go to court, Terry had testified against me. It was just my luck that four members of the jury were also members of Terry's Pokemon Lover's Club; they sided with him immediately. It had been about three weeks since that day.
I was worried. Worried about Dustin, was he even alive? If he was, would my story blow his cover? Was Pegasus being tested? Where were AJ and the others??? Did they have new trainers? Where they treated well? ... Were they alive?
And there on the hard, concrete floor I cried myself into a fitful sleep worrying about everything I had done.
